- Is said to be in discussions to make a sequel to SIXTEEN CANDLES (1984). (June 7, 2005)
- Tried out for the role of Allison in THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985), but the director gave her the role of Claire. Ally Sheedy is quoted as saying I'm glad you didn't [get it] because I could never have played your part.
- THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985): Ringwald and Anthony Michael-Hall were dating in real life at the time.
- Auditioned for the part in GHOST (1990), but it went to Demi Moore. Ironically the characters name ended up being Molly.
- Was originally offered role of Sandy in BLUE VELVET (1986), but her mother objected to her starring in it, due to the graphic content of the film.
- Although filmed in 1982, P.K. AND THE KID (1987) was shelved until her subsequent stardom prompted its release on video in 1987.
- Offered the role of Amanda Jones in SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL (1987) but refused it, ending her successful relationship with John Hughes.
- The Rave-Ups are the band playing in the club scene in PRETTY IN PINK. Ringwald was apparently a fan of their music, and her sister had a child with one of the band members. Also, in SIXTEEN CANDLES (1984), The Rave-Ups is scrawled on the notebook Molly's character is carrying while walking down a corridor after study hall.
