- She weighed 90 pounds.
- Her birth year was usually given as 1919 but her autobiography and Lenburg's highly negative biography both indicate 1922.
- Her height variously was given as barely five feet to 5' 2. Photos indicate the shorter height.
- Took up flying in 1946 and in 1948 flew her small plane from Los Angeles to New York.
- She was found working in a hotel as a barmaid, after being decalred bankrupt. But she made a comeback soon after.
- Her ashes are scattered at sea.
- Women in the 1940's (and even Kim Basinger 50 years later for the movie L.A. CONFIDENTIAL) lost most or all of their hair trying to copy her platinum blonde hair color.
- She got her big break when teamed with the only actor in Hollywood relatively near to her in height, Alan Ladd. Ladd was 5'6 and she was just 4'11.
- She was shorter than the average twelve-year-old girl
- While she and Richard Webb (I) were rehearsing a scene in I WANTED WINGS (1941), director Mitchell Leisen filmed a scene which included this rehearsal for his later film HOLD BACK THE DAWN (1941).
