- Said he wants to go behind the camera as a director, which he calls the best job in the world. (February 9, 2004)
- Found it difficult working with Charlton Heston on the remake of PLANET OF THE APES- because of their disagreements on gun laws.
- Cast by director Alan Clarke as a teenage juvenile delinquent in the astonishing TV-movie MADE IN BRITAIN (1982), Roth delivered a mesmerizing performance that was so believable, many felt Clarke had hired a young hood for the role.
- Equally at home in comedy or drama, he originally set out to be a visual artist but having played the lead in a school staging of Dracula as a teenager eventually abandoned painting and sculpture for performing.
- Butch smokes Red Apple cigarettes in PULP FICTION (1994). The same brand is smoked by his character in FOUR ROOMS (1995).
- Considered for the role of Amon Goeth in SCHINDLER'S LIST (1993).
- RESERVOIR DOGS (1992): During filming, a paramedic was kept on the set to make sure that Mr. Orange's (Tim Roth) amount of blood loss was kept consistent and realistic to that of a real gunshot victim.
- He was a leading contender for the role of Professor Severus Snape in HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE (2001). Roth dropped out of contention, however, to pursue his role as General Thade in Tim Burton's adaptation of PLANET OF THE APES (2001).
- Plays a character named Mr. Orange in RESERVOIR DOGS (1992). In PULP FICTION (1994) he plays a character named Pumpkin. Pumpkins are... orange.
- The actor who plays the lady that Mr. Orange shoots was Roth's dialect coach. Roth insisted that she take the role, as she was very hard on him.
- Turned down the role of Johnny Rotten in SID AND NANCY (1986) as he felt the film depicted history that was too recent.
- Received Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his first mainstream-Hollywood film performance in ROB ROY (1995)
- Has five tattoos on his right arm, each representing an important event in his life.
- He may be a movie star, but he still takes on a bartending job every once in awhile.
- Met actor Gary Oldham on the London stage and the two have remained very good friends.
