GOSSIP:	Is reteaming with ALIENS director James Cameron for a role in his upcoming sci-fi adventure AVATAR. (February 17, 2007) Is in negotiations to join the cast of Columbia Pictures' VANTAGE POINT, about an assassination attempt on the U.S. president. (June 17, 2006) Has signed on to star alongside David Duchovny in the cast of the indie film THE TV SET, written and to be directed by Jake Kasdan. (August 11, 2005) Presented the 100-pound silvery-grayish egg that spawned the freaky facehugger creatures in the 1986 sci-fi movie ALIENS to the National Museum of American History on Wednesday, along with an original script and several still photos from the movie. (December 11, 2003) In 1988 Weaver was nominated for the Academy Awards’ Leading Actress in GORILLAS IN THE MIST and for Supporting Actress in WORKING GIRL, but she lost both. This has to be an in-joke intended by the filmmakers. When Dr Slaughter (Weaver) walks to the answering machine in HALF MOON STREET (1986), there is a photo next to the phone, which shows Weaver and her real-life father Pat Weaver. It is hard to believe that Sigourney is afraid to travel in elevators as she has been living in prewar co-op penthouse apartments (probably fourteenth floor or higher) for at least the past fifteen years.
