GOSSIP:
|
- Has an awesome reputation in the business as being an actor who is reliable, focussed at his work, generous toward fellow actors and a nice guy to work with.
- He has purportedly written more than 70 songs.
- In STARMAN (1984) he played an alien who takes on the visage of a human being, and is enthralled with a particular Earth food (pie). In K-PAX, he plays opposite Kevin Spacey's alien in human form whose favorite food is fruit.
- A lot of the Dude's clothes THE BIG LEBOWSKI (1998) were Bridges' own clothes.
- In the 'Gutterballs' dream sequence in THE BIG LEBOWSKI (1998), when the Dude is sliding down the bowling lane, Jeff Bridges' shoulders were actually too wide to pass through the dancers' legs. So the scene had to be shot twice (once with just Bridges, once with just the legs), Bridges was slightly shrunk digitally, and the two were then spliced together.
- In THE BIG LEBOWSKI (1998), the Dude's shirt with Oriental characters and an Asian holding a baseball bat, worn during the scene in which THE BIG LEBOWSKI describes Bunny's kidnapping, is the same shirt worn by Jeff Bridges in part of THE FISHER KING (1991).
- In THE BIG LEBOWSKI (1998), the private detective that's following Lebowski says that Bunny's family is from a farm outside Moorhead, Minnesota. Moorhead is the home town of Jeff Bridges' wife and is located directly across the state line from Fargo (the title of the Coen brothers' previous film).
- In BLOWN AWAY (1994), a piece of shrapnel from the exploding bomb truck nearly killed him.
- He wears cufflinks formerly owned by the real Preston Tucker in TUCKER: THE MAN AND HIS DREAM (1988)
- He produced too much of a bulge in the crotch area in his computer outfit, so he was forced to wear a dance belt to conceal it (TRON-1982).
- Was nominated Oscar for Best Actor in 1985 for STARMAN
- Sang his own song Lost in Space for the film JOHN AND MARY (Did not act in film).
- Met his wife in 1975 while he was filming RANCHO DELUXE. Susan was a maid at one of the location dude ranches.
- Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at Screen Actors Guild Awards for SEABISCUIT (2004)
- Nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at Academy Awards for THE CONTENDER (2001)
