- Manhattan appeals court has dismissed a wrongful-death lawsuit brought by Aaliyah's record company, Blackground Records, against the music video producer who arranged her doomed 2001 plane flight. (January 8, 2005)
- Pathologist Giovander Raju testified at the opening of an inquest into Aaliyahâs death that she was killed by severe burns and a blow to the head when her plane crashed two years ago. (November 19, 2003)
- Aaliyah's parents have reached an undisclosed settlement in a negligence lawsuit over her death in a 2001 plane crash - They sued plane operator Blackhawk International Airways Corp., owners Skystream Inc., Gilbert Chacon, and flight broker Atlantic Flight Group.
